Biodance

Biodance is a Korean skincare brand run by Beautyselection Co., Ltd., based in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Its ranges are named for what they are built on — Collagen, Cera-nol, Vita Niacinamide, Sea Kelp and Caviar PDRN — across masks, toners and pads, creams, serums and cleansers.

Its own product pages are specific about the engineering. The collagen in the Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask is published as an ultra-low-molecular collagen at 243 daltons, and alongside it sits an oligo-hyaluronic acid in the 1,000 to 3,000 dalton range, which the brand describes as roughly four hundred times smaller than standard hyaluronic acid. The mask itself is a two-piece hydrogel at 34 grams a sheet.

Its directions show the format's thinking: six to eight hours overnight, three to four by day — or, as the brand puts it, until the hydrogel is transparent.

Three claims are worth unpacking: what a dalton figure buys, what shrinking hyaluronic acid changes, and why a gel turning clear is the timer.

Start with the daltons. A dalton is a unit of molecular weight, and around 500 is the rough ceiling usually cited for crossing the skin barrier. At 243 this sits well under it. Collagen broken that small works as a humectant: the fragments hold water at the surface, so skin looks plumper and smoother while they are there — exactly what a mask is for. The collagen hydrogel mask below does it well: hydrolysed collagen as the hero, with a six-peptide complex behind it.

Smaller hyaluronic acid is the more interesting claim. Standard hyaluronic acid is a large molecule that sits on top and draws water to the surface; cut to the 1,000 to 3,000 dalton range it settles into the upper layers and holds water slightly deeper, which is what the smaller size is for. A mix of weights covers more depths than one alone, which is why the serum below uses an eight-weight complex.

Then the transparency timer, a genuinely clever cue. A hydrogel is essence gelled into a solid, and as its water transfers into skin and evaporates the gel thins and clears. Clear is how you know the mask has finished delivering — your signal to take it off, no clock-watching. What 34 grams of gel buys is a night's wear where fabric would dry and lift.
