About
Benton is a Korean skincare brand run by Benton Inc. from Dongjak-gu, Seoul, and it takes its name from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button — the idea being skin returning to an earlier state. It says it wants to get there by restoring natural health rather than short-lived effects, and excludes ingredients it considers harmful or controversial from the planning stage. Fragrance-free formulation and small-batch production are stated principles.
Its ranges are organised by hero ingredient or format: Snail Bee High Content, Aloe BHA, Deep Green Tea, Guava, Heartleaf and Ceramide, alongside the sun care.
Several products carry their own numbers on the front. The ceramide moisturiser is sold as Ceramide Cream 10000ppm. The exfoliating toner is sold as Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner. The sun care splits in two, both at SPF50+/PA++++: Skin Fit Mineral Sun Cream and Air Fit UV Defense Sun Cream.
Three of those are worth unpacking — what 10,000 ppm comes to, what an acid percentage settles, and what naming a sunscreen mineral changes.
Worth it?
Start with the ppm. 10,000 ppm is one per cent — a workable level for ceramides, though the figure doesn't say which ones. The barrier is built from ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids together, which is why the six-ceramide cream below earns its place: cholesterol and a full fatty-acid set alongside them.
A stated acid percentage settles less than it looks. Seven per cent glycolic is a real strength, but what it does also depends on the formula's pH and how often you use it. The toner pad below takes the other route: AHA, BHA, PHA and LHA in one mildly acidic step, formulated by its maker for daily use rather than a weekly treatment.
Mineral, in a sunscreen name, is a filter choice: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide rather than organic filters. Both kinds work mainly by absorbing UV, but the minerals also scatter visible light, which is where a pale cast comes from. The sunscreen below uses those two minerals, and answers the cast with a green tint.

How to use
Benton's own order of use is cleansing, then skin, essence, lotion, cream. It asks for small amounts, describing the formulas as concentrated, and says to adjust the amount day to day with your skin's oil and moisture balance. Because its products carry no chemical absorption enhancers, it suggests tapping gently rather than rubbing to help them settle. Questions
What is snail secretion filtrate, and does it work?
Mucin collected from snails and filtered. It contains glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid and a little glycolic acid, so it hydrates and mildly smooths. Evidence for hydration is reasonable; for firming, thinner.
What is bee venom in skincare, and is it safe?
Apitoxin, the compound behind sting reactions, used on the theory that mild controlled irritation plumps skin temporarily. A genuine allergen: with a known sting allergy, avoid it and read ingredient lists.
Which common Korean skincare ingredients are animal-derived?
Snail mucin, bee venom, propolis, honey, beeswax, lanolin, most collagen and milk derivatives. A botanical-sounding range is not automatically free of them.
What does 10,000 ppm mean on a label?
Parts per million, so 10,000 ppm is one per cent. A real amount, though it doesn't say which ceramides.
Do eyelash serums actually grow lashes?
A cosmetic serum conditions lashes rather than growing new ones. That is worth having: collagen, peptides and biotin keep lashes supple and reinforce the keratin, so they look fuller.
