Goodal is a Korean skincare brand owned by CLIO Corporation of Seoul. The name is a compound of good and all: "something that is good for all." It positions itself on natural ingredients grown in Korea, naming each line for the plant it is built on.

Green Tangerine Vita C is the line it leads with, and it runs the length of a routine: cleansing foam, toner pad, serum, cream, eye cream, gel patch and a tone-up sun cream. The serum and the cream both state 4% niacinamide, doubled from the previous formulation, with ascorbyl glucoside as the vitamin C derivative and arbutin alongside. Its Clear Clean Guide is the brand's own list of eighteen excluded ingredients.

Houttuynia cordata — heartleaf — is the calming line, and its Calming Moisture Sun Cream is SPF50+ PA++++ on organic filters, among them ethylhexyl triazone and diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate. Three repay a closer look: what the tangerine contributes, what 4% niacinamide adds, and what a filter choice changes.

Start with the tangerine. Botanical vitamin C is sold on the percentage of fruit extract, and that figure tells you what the formula is built on: at 74%, the extract stands in for the water most formulas use as a base. That is a real formulating choice, and it is why the textures feel hydrating. The vitamin C work itself is done by the stated actives beside it. The yuzu cream below is built the same way.

Those stated actives are the other number. 4% niacinamide is a named amount of a named active, doing the real work on tone. The yuzu cream states niacinamide at 5%, and the dark spot serum below states ethyl ascorbic acid at 1,000ppm — a stable derivative, published, and suited to daily use.

Filters are the third. Goodal's sun cream runs on organic filters, which absorb UV and tend to disappear. The sunscreen below uses zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which sit on the surface and need blending. Neither is stronger; they wear differently.
