About

AXIS-Y is a Korean skincare brand operated from Seoul by Asia Master Trade Co., Ltd. It calls itself climate inspired: skin shifts with environment and season rather than sitting in one fixed type.

It publishes a formulation framework to match. AXIS-Y describes a 6+1+1 build: six base ingredients for general skin health, one core ingredient aimed at a concern, and one newer technology ingredient. Its individual products then carry their own numbers. The Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum lists niacinamide at 5%, with squalane and sea buckthorn fruit extract. The Daily Purifying Treatment Toner lists AHA and PHA alongside salicylic acid at 0.5%, with Centella asiatica at 250,000 ppm and tea tree extract. The range runs wider than those two, with the Vegan Collagen Eye Serum, the Panthenol Cream and the Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen alongside them.

Three are worth unpacking: what a 6+1+1 recipe buys you, what 5% niacinamide does, and what a 0.5% acid and a 250,000 ppm figure amount to.

Worth it?

Start with 6+1+1. It is honest about something most brands leave unsaid: a formula is mostly base and the interesting part is small. It fits almost any serum on the market, which is what makes it a useful way to read one: base, core, new technology. The dark spot serum below is built the same way.

5% niacinamide is a well-chosen number: the level most tone research uses, and going higher mainly raises the odds of flushing without adding benefit. Give it eight to twelve weeks of daily use for a fair test; the result is a reduction, not a disappearance. The yuzu cream below sits at the same 5%.

The toner rewards a close read. 0.5% salicylic acid is a low, daily-use level, sensible in something used every day. The 250,000 ppm centella figure converts to 25% — a quarter of the formula is centella extract, which is a lot of it by volume. A ppm figure counts the extract solution, so read it as how centella-led the base is. The mildly acidic PHA toner below takes the gentler route.

That conversion works everywhere: the eye cream below lists tranexamic acid and glutathione at 1,000 ppm each, or 0.1% — figures most brands never publish.

And the step no framework covers: sun. UV restarts the pigment all of this works to slow, so the physical sunscreen below earns its place first.

We don't carry AXIS-Y itself. For each of these jobs, though, we send an alternative we rate highly — the five picks below.

Recommended

  • Moisture Balancing Toner

    Baegayul$23

For the toner step. Slightly acidic, so it settles skin's pH, with PHA for very gentle exfoliation, a herbal soothing complex and ceramide NP in the list. Press in with your palms, or sweep on with a cotton pad two or three times. No fragrant ingredients.

  • Rovectin Vita Dark Spot Serum

    Rovectin$37

Sea buckthorn water is the base rather than plain water, with niacinamide high in the list and three brightening actives behind it — ethyl ascorbic acid at 1,000ppm, arbutin and 4-butylresorcinol — plus ferulic acid, panthenol and a nine-vitamin complex. Hydrating first, so it stays comfortable. Morning or night, after toner.

  • Tranexamic Acid + Glutathione Eye Cream

    MARY&MAY$20.54.5 (680)

For the eye area. Tranexamic acid and glutathione work on dark circles and uneven tone, with vitamin C, niacinamide and panthenol alongside. Both are listed at 1,000ppm, so make it a daily habit and let the results build. A light cream, smooth enough to tap on daily.

  • YUZU VITA C Cream

    LALARECIPE$404.3 (104)

Built on a Jeju yuzu extract base with niacinamide at 5%, a well-studied level. Bisabolol, ethyl ascorbic acid and ceramide sit alongside gluconolactone, glycolic acid and mandelic acid for smoother texture, and twelve vitamins run through the list. Use as the last step, morning and evening.

  • Cica Redness Solution Sunscreen

    MEEBAK$303.6 (73)

A genuinely physical sunscreen — zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are the filters. SPF 50, with a green tint that neutralises redness as it blends into fair to medium tones. Centella, niacinamide, panthenol and ceramide NP sit behind it. Warm a small amount between your fingers, then build coverage as needed.

How to use

For AXIS-Y's Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum: apply a small amount to the whole face or to targeted areas, then pat until it is fully absorbed. For the Daily Purifying Treatment Toner: after cleansing, sweep it across the face on a cotton pad, avoiding the eye area — once daily, adjusting the frequency to how your skin takes it. The picks above run in the same order: toner first, then the serum across the whole face rather than dabbed on marks, eye cream and cream after, sunscreen last in the morning.

Questions

What does 6+1+1 mean?

Six base ingredients, one core, one technology ingredient.

Is a higher niacinamide percentage better?

No. Around 5% is the well-studied level; higher mainly adds irritation risk.

What does 250,000 ppm work out to?

25% — divide ppm by 10,000. It counts the extract solution, so read it as how centella-led the base is.

How long before a brightening routine shows results?

Eight to twelve weeks of consistent use. Anything faster is usually hydration, not pigment fading.

Why does sunscreen matter so much here?

UV restarts the pigment production you are trying to slow, so skipping it undoes the rest.
